JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Part 7 - Steel Ball Run

"Spin your nails in the golden ratio!... Then you should have the ability to harness the power of infinity!"

~Gyro Zeppeli

Overview[]

Spin is a technique that was introduced in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7. It was added to Your Bizarre Adventure alongside Tusk, and it is obtained by talking to Gyro Zeppeli who is located in Eli's Pizzeria. To unlock it from him, you need to be above Level 20, have a Steel Ball and $10,000.

You cannot obtain the Spin fighting-style if you are a Vampire, and you need to keep Spin to upgrade Tusk for each Act, you also need it to upgrade Soft & Wet. Note that you have to have a Steel Ball equipped to use Steel Ball, Double Steel Ball and Whirling Steel Balls.

Tips, Tricks & Combos[]

  • Tusk is recommended with Spin due to stuns, ranged projectiles and damage buffs. While also Buffing Tusk's nails greatly which is great for zoning along with spin. (Needs testing post-rework) (Normal nail shots around 8.8 dmg and 11 dmg with spin charged)
  • Always use Golden Skin when it is available. It is your only means of damage reduction.
  • The Steel Ball moves can hit multiple players at once. Use this if you are being teamed on.
  • All of the Steel Ball moves have insane range. Use it to your advantage.
  • Spin is a good spec to use alongside projectile based stands, such as TWAU, Tusk, etc.
  • Steel ball can be a decent combo starter if landed.
  • Steel ball has a very low cooldown, meaning you can throw it at your enemy very often. You can use this to give more pressure.
  • All of spin's damaging moves can be cancelled, so be careful when you use them.
  • Whirling Stell Ball always goes in a straight line unless there is a slope.

Combos:

  • Steel Ball > Double Steel Ball
  • Steel Ball > Twisting Spin Punch
  • Steel Ball > Double Steel Ball > Whirling Steel Ball
  • Steel Ball > Double Steel Ball > Twisting Spin Punch

  • Trivia[]

    • Spin used to be (arguably) the worst spec in the game near its release, as its original stun was considered broken, thus it received many nerfs. As a result of more buffs and now the Spin Rework, it is considered good, or at least better from where it was back then.
    • The Spin is the Steel Ball Run universe counterpart to Hamon. This is evident due to the users obtaining a specific stand for a mastery of each (Hermit Purple/Jonathan's Stand in the original universe and Ball Breaker in the Steel Ball Run universe).
    • Spin, alongside Hamon, are Specs that you can't use alongside the Vampirism race.
    • Holding out any item while charging Spin will cause it to spin. Funny mentions are the Green Baby and the Cash Bag. This can also Spin held Stands like Beach Boy and Anubis.
    • There is a glitch in Steel Ball Run where if you use the steel ball move, your horse will strangely turn around and stop moving but it's legs and body are in the running motion. This can sometimes happen if you use (most notably) time skip.
    • A rework for Spin was announced on the 03/10/2022 by Uzu, and confirmed for later that month. The rework released 23/12/2022.
    • Before the rework, there used to be a glitch where if you are charging spin and someone stops time, you will continue to charge it infinitely. Red Hot Chili Pepper currently has a similar glitch, but rather with the Electric Guitar move instead. Currently, if you charge spin and someone stops time, you will keep charging it during the time stop and it will stop charging when you let go of the button. Hamon shares an identical glitch where it continues to charge in time stop.
    • Unlike many other Spec reworks, Spin Rework was the only Spec Rework that was not overused on release due to it being correctly balanced.
    • There was a glitch where Golden Skin made you take more damage instead of less. However, this was patched in the 1.55 update.
    • Spin’s reworked V move might be inspired to a scene from Naruto where Jiraiya first reveals the Rasengan.
